Left-handed Stormtroopers
Did you know? - Star Wars Trivia
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 21 January 2006
Most of the Stormtroopers are left-handed. That is because of how the weapons are constructed. Their weapons are based on a real weapon, where the magazine is on left side of the weapons. This construction caused it to hit the troopers in the chest. Therefore they have to switch grip of the weapon, which made them look left-handed

Bill Hootkins
Bill Hootkins
William Hootkins, who played Jek Porkins in the original Star Wars film, has passed away at age 58.

According to What's On Stage :

American stage and screen actor William Hootkins - who lived and worked for many years in the UK and was last seen on the London stage in Hitchcock Blonde - has passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Diagnosed earlier this year, he died last night (Sunday 23 October 2005) at St Johns Hospital in Santa Monica near his Californian home. He was 58.

Born in Dallas, Texas on 5 July 1948, the ebullient Hootkins ? known as Bill or 'Hoot' to his friends - made his stage debut in a local school production that co-starred a fellow student who later had success in Hollywood, Tommy Lee Jones. He initially tried to distance himself from drama by studying astrophysics and Chinese linguistics at Princeton University, but soon became involved with Princeton?s Intime Theatre group. On the recommendation of his friend, John Lithgow, he moved to the UK after graduation to study at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) and subsequently made his home in this country.

Stormtroopers

The weapons the stormtroopers used were essentially the Sterling L2A3 9mm SMG (sub-machine gun) a military weapon developed in the late 1940s in the UK and adopted by the British and Canadian Armies in the 1950s. The curved left entry side mounted magazine was removed. And that was as much as it was modified for the film

Where are the characters from the original trilogy?
Star Wars FAQs - Episode I FAQs
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 12 May 2004
As the name Episode I suggests, this is a Prequel trilogy. This means it takes place BEFORE the original Star Wars Trilogy. Some of the characters most of us have grown up with (Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker) have yet to be born, while others (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Yoda, Jabba the Hut, R2-D2, C3PO, and Emperor Palatine/Darth Sidious) appear as younger versions of themselves. (Approx. 40 years younger.) Chewbacca (as claimed by some sources to be 200 years old) has yet to appear.
